Synopsis
While trying to watch a movie from the future on Dollarnator, Fanboy and Chum Chum wind up causing the entire town's power to blow out, which isn't good for everyone else. To make it up, the boys set up a Drive-In Theatre at the Frosty Mart, which is the only building in town that has power.
Plot
One night at the Fanlair. Fanboy and Chum Chum are thrilled to watch the movie Robot Pirate Ninja President that Dollarnator brought from the future. At first, Dollarnator rejects, but he puts it in anyway. As the film begins, unexpectedly, all the power in town goes out! The three discover the Frosty Mart is the only place in town that didn’t get affected by the power outage. They decide to go over there to watch the movie. After running into a wacky Mr. Mufflin and hard door entrance, they learn that Lenny is using Bikey as a power generator to keep the Frosty Mart running. They ask Lenny where to plug Dollarnator in, and he suggests outside. Just as they were about to go out, suddenly their friends appear. Lupe, Kyle, Yo, Oz, Duke, Chuggy along with some of towns citizens Fedora Man, Mrs. Cram and Janitor Poopatine all have no power in their homes, and begin accusing the Frosty Mart for "stealing" their electricity. After a slight apology of trying to watch a movie from the future, everyone decides to watch the movie with them.
Later on, after setting up the Frosty Mart Drive-In Theatre, the movie goes off to a good start, but a few moments later, it turns off. Fanboy has Chum Chum entertain the audience so they won't get upset. When left alone to deal with everyone, at first Chum Chum gets very nervous, but finally gets an idea as he begins singing a song to occupy them.
In the Frosty Mart, Fanboy asks Lenny for more power, but the brackets on his power generator begin to fall apart. He asks Fanboy to get a wrench. Back outside, the movie starts up again. Meanwhile, Fanboy gets with finding the wrench and missing the movie at the exact same time.
He heads back outside to see the movie and chats with Chum Chum. While chatting about the wrench, Chum Chum notices that Fanboy is holding it and becomes shocked of what will happen next. Back inside, Lenny's power generator comes apart and files through the screen into the night sky, thus, shutting down the movie again. The duo’s friends and the citizens are angry again, as the boys try to sneak off in the dark, but are noticed after their "nighty lighty tighty whities" turn on, resulting in everyone chasing after them.

Running Gags
- The citizens getting angry and impatient at Fanboy and Chum Chum.
Trivia
- This episode reveals Lenny can use Bikey as a power generator.
- Hank was the only person who liked the blackout.
- Fanboy would've probably helped Lenny and continue watching the movie if he hadn't hesitated.
- The residents are more aggressive toward the boys in this episode. Oz seemed to be a little bit mean to them, at the end yelling "Oh yeah! You better run!"
- When Dollar-nator said that he forgot humans can only watch in 3D and that he should've disabled the other 4 "D's," this reveals that the boys watched the movie in 7D, which is purely theoretical as there are not seven dimensions.
- This episode is on the SpongeBob SquarePants: Frozen Face-Off DVD along with "The Last Strawberry Fun Finger".
- In the scene where Fanboy takes out the wrench he unknowingly had, Chum Chum can be seen looking utterly shocked, as a reference to what's about to happen next.
- It’s unknown how the power was restored since the episode ends with out it coming back on.
- The dome that Man-Arctica is in looks similar to the cone of silence dome that appeared in "Chicken Pox".
- Cheech, Cher, Fankylechum, Francine, Michael, and Nancy are only students who are absent in the episode.
- This episode was disliked by the majority because of the way the citizens treated Fanboy and Chum Chum.
Continuity
- During the scenes with the power generator, the music is the same as Stink's Bake Job plan ("Fanboy Stinks").
- Second time Kyle appears for most of the episode, but has a minor role, due to having no lines. ("Man-Arctica the Ride")
- Second time Lenny's bike "Bikey" appears. ("The Great Bicycle Mystery")
- Second episode to only take place at night. ("Risky Brizness")
- The Price is Right "Come on down" music sound-alike is heard again. ("Chicken Pox", "I'm Man-Arctica!")
- Third time the power goes out. ("Secret Shopper", "Tooth or Scare")
- Fourth episode to feature Boog's car Sandy. ("Refill Madness", "Brain Freeze", "Robo-mance")
- Sixth time Fanboy's brain is seen. ("Dollar Day", "I, Fanbot", "Brain Drain", "The Book Report of the Dead", "Present Not Accounted For", "Brain Freeze")
- Seventh time Lupe appears, but Yo does not say anything. ("Pick a Nose", "Precious Pig" "Fanboyfriend", "Strings Attached". "Fan-bidextrous", "Norse Code")
Goofs
- There were 9 members of the mob when they enter the Frosty Mart, but when they sit down to watch the movie, there were 12 members.
- Duke disappears from the shot when Lupe wants to burn the Frosty Mart down.
- Fedora Man is shown with the mob in the beginning, but isn't shown afterwards.
- Janitor Poopatine isn't shown with the mob when they run after Fanboy and Chum Chum.
- When the power goes out, the moon turns off, too. In real life, this is impossible, even though it happens on most cartoons.
- Just like in the last episode, there is a closed caption error: the captions appear about five seconds before said, then disappear when said. This goof appears every time the episode airs in the US.
Allusions
- When Mr. Mufflin first shows up with his stick and hoop, "The Entertainer" can be heard as background music.
Lenny's ET reference.
- E.T. - After Lenny's bike comes off the brackets, his bike goes flying in front of the moon. This was a reference to the iconic bike-flying scene from the movie.
- The Price is Right - The music played when the Frosty Mart drive-in theatre first appears parodies the theme of America's longest-running game show.
- Back to the Future - Dollarnator says that he require an extra 1.21 gigawatts in order to get back to the future is the same as the plot of needing 1.21 gigawatts of electricity in the DeLorean time machine in this movie.
- Tron - The end of the episode has Mr. Mufflin riding a Lightcycle is based on the movie.
