"Uh, in case you haven't noticed: I'm cute!" |
Yo is a supporting character in the Fanboy and Chum Chum series. She is a classmate of the duo and is part of their friends' group.
Background
Yo is a girl of a Japanese descent with a crazy obsession towards Chum Chum, wanting to keep him like a toy much to his best friend's annoyance. Despite her tense relationship with Fanboy, who she often argues and fights with, she does truly care about him and supports many of his ideas. Even though she can be somewhat bratty, she's really just a kind-hearted girl: sweet, fun, and prepped for adventure. Only her father and female cousin have been briefly mentioned. Yo attends Galaxy Hills Elementary School in Hank Mufflin's 5th grade class.
Personality
Yo is sweet and gentle (if not a bit intimidating). She is a collector of all things adorable. She owns a hoard of Yamaguchi digital pets, one of which is named Scampers.
As a collector of all things adorable, she routinely tries to kidnap Chum Chum from Fanboy, often with the plan to dress him, brush his hair, and shelve him alongside her other toys.
Yo is similar to a stereotypical "fangirl" in the way she acts, especially toward Chum Chum. She has pictures of him in her mini closet; and has a strong obsession with Chum Chum to the point where she declares she wants to take him home with her.
Yo isn’t trying to be mean or malicious to Chum Chum as she thinks she’s protecting him and making him happy. In "Trading Day" she puts him in a glass dome and designs the dome with things he loves such as sunflowers, daisies, a sun, etc. In "Prank Master" she thinks Fanboy and Boog were bullying Chum Chum and tries to take him back to her house and dress him up. In "The Incredible Shrinking Fanboy" she tries to make him happy by trying to play with him and sing a song to him. However she unintentionally makes him feel uncomfortable by getting in his space and showing too much affection.
Even though Yo can be a bit clingy, she still has a heart and can genuinely be kind. In "Trading Day" she decides to trade Chum Chum back when Fanboy is done playing with her Mecha-Tech and later on allows Fanboy to be with Chum Chum again in the dome. In "Present Not Accounted For" she buys Chum Chum rocket boots to make him happy.
Even though she loves cute things she seems to dislike kissing as when she saw Fanboy kiss Chum Chum.
Yo is a talented prankster, dominating Fanboy in multiple forms of revenge when the annual Prank Day comes around.
Yo is naturally cheerful but becomes crazed and obsessive when she interacts with Chum Chum. She is a master manipulator, using her sweet demeanor to collect large amounts of money from lemonade stand costumers, trick Fanboy into handing over Chum Chum for an awesome Mecha Tech gadget, and stop Man-Arctica from freezing the citizens of Galaxy Hills (unsuccessfully).
She can become quite assertive when someone does something she doesn’t like.
In later episodes, she gradually becomes calmer and more cheerful. Whereas in the first season she tended to behave in a very aggressive manner towards Fanboy, hurting him severely on multiple occasions in pranks and fistfights. She becomes a lot nicer in the last season, showing compassion towards Fanboy, offering him advice, and asking him for help. She even grows close to Chris Chuggy in Robo-Mance and accepts his hand and valentine. She also loses her crazy obsession with Chum Chum and treats him more respectfully.
Physical Appearance
General
Yo has light-pinkish-apricot skin. She has a pill-shaped body. She has medium-length jet-black hair with even Hime bangs that she ties into pigtails using triangular shaped raspberry pink colored bows. She has a large rectangular head with a round top, round large eyes with three eyelashes on them, a pinkish-red nose and thin lips. She has skinny limbs. She has small pointed, rectangular round ears that stick out horizontally from the sides of her head. She has a flattened face, short neck, and upward-slanting eyelids with skin folds. She’s around the same size as Fanboy though slightly an inch shorter.
Attire
She wears a pastel yellow short-sleeved t-shirt with a raspberry pink collar on top of the shirt and a smiley-face on the chest center, a raspberry pink and green plaid skirt, yellow, pink high-top shoes and a yellow-green frog backpack. She is sometimes seen without the backpack on some occasions. Underneath her skirt she wears raspberry pink panties.
